Tom Buck Sentenced to 3 1/2 Years in Prison.
According to reports, Thomas Buck, a former Merrill Lynch advisor who previously pled guilty to overcharging his clients excessive commissions was sentenced to almost three-and-a-half years in prison yesterday.
Not only did Buck previously plead guilty 13 months ago but the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority also barred him permanently from the securities industry.
According to his FINRA BrokerReport, Buck has been the subject of 30+ customer complaints since Merrill discharged him in March 2015.
Buck, who had worked at Merrill for 33 years, was reportedly managing about $1.3 billion for around 800 household accounts and had a team of as many as 20 brokers.
The White Law Group continues to investigate the potential liability Merrill Lynch may have for failing to properly supervise Buck. For more information on that investigation, see Thomas Buck Update.
