According to Credit Union Times, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged broker Donna J Tucker with defrauding elderly clients and stealing their funds. The SEC alleges Tucker falsified account statements to cover up the theft. It’s further alleged that Tucker deliberately sent account statements electronically knowing her clients were unable or unwilling to review statements in that format.
In addition, Tucker allegedly made trades and other financial transactions without client authorization and made misrepresentations to clients regarding their accounts.
In a parallel action, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia announced criminal charges against Tucker.
It appears Tucker settled the charges with the SEC and agreed to disgorge approximately $730,000 in ill-gotten gains. However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia has filed similar charges against Tucker.
