According to public records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, between August 2014 and March 2016, seventeen customers were allegedly solicited to make purchases in a gold mine, Tesoro Del Alma, Inc. by former Cetera financial advisor Ken Balser of Colorado Springs, CO.

Tesoro Del Alma Investors have reportedly not received any returns from their investments.

Balser was reportedly barred by FINRA and the Colorado Division of Securities after allegations of selling away from the firm and allegedly failing to inform his member firm, Cetera, about the investment. 

Broker dealers are required to perform adequate due diligence on any investment they recommend. They must ensure that all recommendations are suitable for the investor. Recommendations should be in line with the investor’s age, risk tolerance, net worth, and investment experience.
