Recovery of United States Brent Oil ETF Losses

Have you suffered losses investing in United States Brent Oil ETF?  If so, the securities attorneys of The White Law Group may be able to help you recover your losses in a FINRA arbitration claim against the brokerage firm that recommended the investment.

United States Brent Oil ETF is an exchange-traded fund.  The investment seeks to replicate, net of expenses, the daily changes in percentage terms of the spot price of Brent crude oil as measured by the changes in the price of the futures contract on Brent crude oil as traded on the ICE Futures Exchange that is the near month contract to expire. The portfolio will consist primarily of investments in futures contracts for crude oil, heating oil, gasoline, natural gas and other petroleum-based fuels that are traded on the ICE Futures Exchange, the NYMEX and other U.S. and foreign exchanges.  United States Brent Oil ETF is down 49.03% year-to-date.

Commodity ETFs may be affected by changes in overall market movements, commodity index volatility, changes in interest rates or factors affecting a particular industry or commodity.  Unique risk factors of a commodity fund may include, but are not limited to the fund’s use of aggressive investment techniques such as derivatives, options, forward contracts, correlation or inverse correlation, market price variance risk and leverage.  Commodity ETFs may be subject to greater volatility than traditional ETFs and are only suitable for wealthy, sophisticated retail investors or institutional investors.

Brokerage firms that sell such products are required to perform adequate due diligence on the investments to ensure a reasonable likelihood of success, and to evaluate whether the investments are suitable in light of the client’s age, net worth, investment experience, and investment objectives.  Firms that fail to perform adequate due diligence, or that make unsuitable recommendations, can be held responsible for losses in a FINRA arbitration claim.
