Have you lost money as a result of your dealings with Kansas broker Jimmy Duane Weishaar and his association with Brenda Wood? If so, the White Law Group may be able to help you recover your investment losses through an arbitration claim with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
According to reports, Brenda Wood’s alleged ponzi scheme drained the pockets of many Kansas investors. Wood, a business owner of a janitorial service, reportedly set out to raise capital to purchase a landmark building in Kansas city. She purportedly approached Weishaar, a registered broker with Sammons Securities, with a deal that she claimed would pay investors 10% returns.
Weishaar allegedly sold six customers short-term promissory notes in the deal totaling $440,000. Weishaar allegedly failed to notify his firm about the sales, and in doing so violated FINRA regulations.
The White Law Group is investigating what liability that Sammons Securities may have for Weishaar’s actions. When a FINRA registered representative conducts business outside the scope of the brokerage firm where they are registered, the act can be considered “selling away.” If a registered broker “sells away” from their firm, the brokerage firm may be liable for negligent supervision of their broker representative and may be responsible for investment losses in a FINRA dispute resolution claim.
