Investor Alert: Landon L. Williams

Have you suffered losses investing with Landon L. Williams, former financial advisor with Merill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, & Smith? If so, The White Law Group may be able to help.

From August 6, 2013 until August 6, 2014, William was associated with FINRA member Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner& Smith, Inc.  and registered with FINRA as a General Securities Representative in Jacksonville, FL.

According to a FINRA complaint, between March 5, 2014 and July 23, 2014, Williams purportedly participated in telephone conversations with five separate customers. During those conversations, he allegedly made false and/or misleading statements to the customers and/or failed to disclose material information about securities transactions that he was recommending to the customers. By his alleged conduct, Williams violated FINRA Rule 2010. In addition, in connection with certain false statements that were made to one particular customer, he also violated Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934,  Exchange Act Rule lOb-5, and FINRA Rule 2020.

In addition, in connection with each telephone conversation, Williams purportedly entered false information in the firm’s customer relationship management (CRM) software application (Siebel) describing his discussion with, and disclosures made to the customer. By entering false information in the Siebel system, Williams also allegedly violated FINRA Rules 4511 and 2010.

The White Law Group is investigating the liability that William’s employers may have for losses sustained by his clients. Brokerage firms are required to supervise their advisors to ensure that they are complying with FINRA rules. If it can be determined that Williams violated FINRA rules and his employers failed to adequately supervise him, these firms can be held responsible for any resulting losses in a FINRA arbitration claim.
