Adam Fritzsche Suspended from Securities Industry

According to FINRA, Adam Fritzsche was suspended from the securities industry this week for allegedly making unsuitable recommendations to three customers that were inconsistent with the customers’ investment objectives. This allegedly resulted in overconcentration of their liquid net worth in an alternative investment. FINRA further alleges Fritzsche caused the Firm’s books and records to be inaccurate by submitting forms that misrepresented the net worth of the three customers.

According to FINRA BrokerCheck, Adam Fritzsche has been registered with IFS Securities in Atlanta, GA since 10/18/2016. Prior to that, he was registered with Citizens Securities in New London, CT from November 2012 until he was reportedly discharged in August 2016 for failing to disclose liens in a timely manner.

Brokers have a fiduciary duty to make investment recommendations that are consistent with the clients net worth, investment experience and objectives. Risk tolerance, age, and liquidity needs also need to be considered. Furthermore, brokers are prohibited from engaging in underhanded businesses practice, like churning, that violate securities laws and regulations.

When brokers abuse client accounts and conduct transactions that violate securities laws, the brokerage firm they are working with may be liable for investment losses. Brokerage firms that fail to monitor the business activities of their employees may be liable for investment losses due to negligent supervision for the misconduct of their employees.
