C?ON Investment Corporation Investment Losses
Are you concerned about your investment in C?ON Investment Corporation? If so, the securities attorneys at The White Law Group may be able to help you by filing a FINRA Dispute Resolution claim against the brokerage firm that sold you the investment.
C?ON Investment Corporation is a non-traded business development company (BDC), that launched its initial continuous public offering in July 2012. The company reportedly invests in secured loans, corporate bonds, debt securities, and private companies in the United States.
The BDC has reportedly suspended distributions and the share repurchase program and has changed the timing of declaring distributions from quarterly to monthly, according to SEC filings in March 2020.
Shareholder distributions, including both cash and through the distribution reinvestment plan, will be temporarily suspended beginning April 30, 2020. The share repurchase program was also temporarily suspended beginning with the second quarter of 2020.
The company reportedly indicated that future distributions and share repurchases will be reevaluated based on circumstances and expectations existing at the time of consideration.
Recovery of Investment Losses
The White Law Group continues to investigate FINRA arbitration claims involving broker dealers who may have improperly recommended non-traded BDCs to investors.
Brokerage firms are required to perform due diligence on any investment they recommend. They must ensure that the investment is suitable for a particular investor in light of that investor’s age, investment objectives, income, net worth, and investment experience. Given the current risk of devaluation of these BDCs, such investments are likely only suitable for wealthy and/or sophisticated investors.
